Irish-British actor Michael Gambon, who is loved worldwide for his impeccable performance as Professor Albus Dumbledore in 6 out of 8 Harry Potter films, passed away today, that is, on 28 September, 2023. He was born on 19 October 1940 in the Cabra suburb of Dublin. His mother’s name was Mary, who was a seamstress, while his father, Edward Gambon, was an engineering operative during World War II.
A statement which has been out on behalf of Lady Gambon and son Fergus, states- “We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia.”
He was 82, and had been working in films, TV, theatre and radio for over 60 years. His life’s story and success is indeed remarkable and an inspiring one. His contributions to the film industry are countless as his classic work in films like Sleepy Hollow, The Insider, The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover are loved by millions.
