Since its publication, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has been the buzz of the town. The film covers a period in the life of Julius Robert Oppenheimer, known as the “Father of the Atomic Bomb.” While the American theoretical physicist deserves to be highlighted, many Indian films and projects focus on the lives of some of India’s geniuses. Our list is as follows:

‘In Rocket Boys’ stars Ishwak Singh and Jim Sarbh:
Ishwak Singh and Jim Sarbh are likely the first names that come to mind when we discuss the on-screen presentations of Indian physicists Dr. Vikram Sarabhai and Dr. Homi Bhabha. It is challenging to erase from people’s minds the actor’s convincing representation of scientists on screen. The audience took note of their performance and research.

R. Madhavan in Rocketry
R Madhavan played Nambi Narayanan in the film, which was based on the life of an Indian aerospace engineer. It was difficult to tell the actual Nambi Narayanan from the genuine one in a photo that Madhavan once shared on Instagram after he had so convincingly assumed the role.

Mission Mangal stars Vidya Balan and Akshay Kumar.
Characters in the movie, which is based on India’s first interplanetary mission, the Mars Orbiter Mission, were largely modeled on actual scientists who worked on the operation. Akshay Kumar portrays Rakesh Dhawan, the scientist, and director of Mission Mars, who was modelled after the actual scientist Subbiah Arunan. The most significant trigger in the plot was Akshay, who kept the audience interested. Scientist and project director Tara Shinde was portrayed by Vidya Balan. Ritu Karidhal Srivastava, the Deputy Operations Director of India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), Mangalyaan, is a loose inspiration for her persona. Vidya did a fantastic job of portraying her persona as a scientist would be.

Soorarai Pottru by Suriya:
Captain G. R. Gopinath created the low-cost airline Air Deccan to help consumers deal with expensive aircraft fares. He served as the real-life model for Suriya’s character Nedumaaran Rajangam, also known as Maara, in the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru. For the film, Suriya won the national award for best actor.

Shakuntala by Vidya Balan:
There is scarcely anyone who hasn’t heard of Shakuntala Devi, also known as the “human computer,” and her talent. She was portrayed by Vidya Balan in the film Shakuntala. Shankuntala Devi’s flamboyance, eccentricity, and love of mathematics were all skillfully tapped into by Vidya.

Super 30 star Hrithik Roshan:
In his role as Anand Kumar, played by Hrithik Roshan, the real-life math teacher is most known for his Super 30 initiative, which he founded in Patna, Bihar, to help poor kids prepare for admission to the Indian Institute of Technology. The film was a milestone in Hrithik’s career, and the actor received acclaim for it.
