Shankar Mahadevan conveys sincere appreciation in response to Shakti’s Grammy triumph, affirming, “This moment holds genuine significance.”

At the 2024 Grammy Awards, Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain’s Shakti band clinched the Best Global Music Album award for their project, “This Moment.” Thrilled by the accomplishment, singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan took to Instagram to share snapshots from the event and convey his gratitude.

The images posted feature the composer and vocalist proudly posing with the Grammy trophy. In the caption, Shankar expressed, “WE DID IT. I never imagined that a band from which I imbibed my music and musical sensibilities would be the one with whom I would ultimately perform and win a Grammy. This moment is evidence that dreams do come true. Shakti was a dream that materialized! Thank you Almighty for making this happen! It’s truly ‘THIS MOMENT.’”

The post elicited a deluge of congratulatory messages from fans in the comments section. One user exclaimed, “Dil se congratulations to all of you. What a proud moment,” while another commented, “You deserve it, sir.”

In his Grammy acceptance speech, Shankar expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you, boys. Thank you God, family, friends, and India. India, we are proud of you.” His acknowledgment of the nation resonated with an enthusiastic cheer from the audience. Shankar also thanked his wife for her unwavering support, adding, “Last but not least, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife, to whom every note of my music is dedicated.

Shakti, featuring guitarist John McLaughlin, percussionist V Selvaganesh, and violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan, competed with other artists like Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy, and Davido at the ceremony. The ‘This Moment’ album, released on June 30 the previous year, represented a significant milestone for the accomplished musical ensemble.
