For a long time, fans have been clamouring for a fourth Spider-Man film directed by Sam Raimi. The director’s renowned ’00s trilogy starring Tobey Maguire left an indelible impression, and Spider-Man: No Way Home only reignited expectations for a fourth instalment. Maguire’s inclusion in the MCU picture alongside Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man brought back a lot of memories. Raimi has now shared his opinions on directing another Spider-Man picture starring Tobey Maguire, whose upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit theatres in a couple of weeks.
According to Fandango, Sam Raimi is open to working on Spider-Man 4 and honouring fan requests. “I’ve come to learn after making Doctor Strange that everything is possible, really anything in the Marvel universe, any team-ups,” he remarked, hinting at the possibilities provided by the MCU’s venture into the multiverse.
He continued, “Tobey is one of my favourite actors. Kirsten Dunst is one of my favourite actresses. I believe that anything is possible. I don’t have a plot or a strategy. I’m not sure if Marvel is interested in doing that right now. I’m not sure what their reaction is to it. That is something I haven’t really pursued. However, it sounds lovely. I’d love to work with Tobey again in a new role, even if it wasn’t a Spider-Man film.”
Raimi has a deep affection for Spider-Man that hasn’t faded over the years. Spider-Man 4 was in the works when Spider-Man 3 was released. The project, however, was not approved by the studio. We got Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man instead.
After everything that happened in No Way Home, Sony should just allow Sam Raimi to make another Spider-Man film. Doctor Strange 2 starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen, Raimi’s next film, is possibly the most fascinating entry in the MCU and will most likely be a testament to his propensity for directing superhero films.
