All the doubts and questions of the audience regarding Don 3 movie’s lead and release date have finally been answered by director Farhan Akhtar. The sequel to movies- Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011), that is, Don 3 will star Ranveer Singh in the lead role and will release in 2025. The director took to his Instagram and even shared the first look of the upcoming ‘Don 3’.
Although the audience is disappointed as to why Shah Rukh Khan hasn’t been cast as lead in the movie, Farhan Akhtar shared a post which stated, “In 1978, a character created by Salim-Javed and portrayed by Mr Amitabh Bachchan with effortless elan, captured the imagination of theatregoers across the country. That enigmatic character was Don. In 2006, Don was reimagined and brought to life by Shah Rukh Khan in his own irresistibly charming way. From Don’s sardonic wit to his cool but menacing fury, Shah Rukh embodied his persona. As a writer and director, I had a great time creating not one but two, ‘Don’ films with Shah Rukh and both experiences remain very close to my heart.”
“The time has now come to take the legacy of Don forward and joining us in this new interpretation will be an actor whose talent and versatility I have long admired. We hope that you will show him the love you have so graciously and generously shown to Mr Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. A new era of Don begins in 2025. Watch this space.”
According to earlier reports, King Khan was the one to reject ‘Don 3’ as he was not convinced with the script. But then it was cleared to the audience that it’s not like Shah Rukh Khan didn’t like the script, it’s just that he wasn’t fully convinced with it. He is aware that the character Don is iconic and he would only like to step back into the character once he’s completely confident of the script.
The movie will be produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment and is scheduled to release in 2025.
