The director of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, Karan Johar, has now spoken out following the film’s enormous success to discuss how the criticism on the internet he received for being referred to as the “movie mafia” has impacted him and his mother.
He also spoke on how his mother Hiroo Johar “crumbled under” all the hatred that was directed at him as he put on a brave face to protect his family.

”In the last three years, I felt there was a lot of hate that was coming my way and it had really taken a toll on my mom. I saw her literally crumble under that because she used to watch TV channels. She was reading stuff online. She was watching TV anchors screaming and shouting and saying the most awful things, demonizing me for some reason. Then there were people who were kind of writing the same on Twitter and other social media platforms,” Karan shared

The filmmaker of ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ claimed that when people don’t even know what type of person you are, they just randomly assume things about you. They created an opinion of him as a mafia figure and continued to speak about him.
In a statement, Karan explained: “At that point, all I needed to be was resilient because I needed to be strong for both myself and my own mother. Following that, you feel rather exposed.
Actress Kangana Ranaut has long accused director Karan Johar of promoting nepotism in Bollywood and denying outsiders a fair shot at success. She first attacked Karan on his star talk program, Koffee with Karan, referring to him as the “flagbearer of nepotism,” and she has frequently labelled him the “movie mafia” in her direct and veiled criticism on social media.
