Doja Cat, the ‘Boss Bitch’ singer, and rapper, was recently entangled in an altercation that has outraged her fans, costing her 200k Instagram followers.
Doja Cat apparently lost over 200K Instagram followers after disrespecting her fan following, or “Kittenz,” on Sunday, July 23rd. Not only did her comments backfire with the loss of followers, but they also destroyed fan pages that had accounts dedicated to her, like Doja HQ, The Kittens Room, and Doja Cat News.
According to Crowdtangle’s social media statistics obtained by Billboard, Doja has lost almost 237,758 Instagram followers. As of right now, the 27-year-old has 25.7 million Instagram followers. The Meta-owned platform also revealed statistics showing that Doja’s name had increased by 82% in search engine rankings as a result of the posts.
The first sign of trouble was when she said on Twitter, “My life my rules my style my attitude.” A fan reacted, encouraging her to express her feelings for them like she always does. “I don’t know because I don’t even know yall,” Doja said. Another admirer, who was very offended by the comment she made, stated, “And we don’t know you, but we have supported you through thick and thin.” You’d be NOTHING without us. You’d be working at a grocery store, writing tunes on f**king garage band, miss high school dropout…”
This wasn’t the end of it, though. The American rapper and singer-songwriter said in a subsequent tweet that her followers don’t have the right to call themselves “Kittenz” (a moniker she gave them years ago). If you refer to yourself as a “kitten” or “f**king kittenz,” you should put down your phone, find a job, and assist your parents with the home.
Moreover, she criticized some of her fans for using their screen names as her real names, Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, considering it ‘creepy’.
A supporter even made an attempt to redeem herself by asking, “What should I change my name to then since you don’t like the term kitten?” Doja gave an unrepentant reply, saying, “Just delete the entire account and rethink everything; it’s never too late.”
Doja Cat’s harshness to her followers has never before resulted in anything concrete, however, her supporters are hoping for an explanation or an apology from her.
