History and the fight for Indian independence is always a nostalgic affair for Indians. Punjab was one of the worst affected regions during this time. Many heroes have fought gallantly for Mother India. One among them is the brave heart Udham Singh whose contribution has left an everlasting impact on the pages of history. Shoojit Sircar’s recently film, Sardar Udham, throws light on the hero’s life, love for India and his brave contribution to our fight for independence.
The film has been well received and Vicky Kaushal’s role as Udham Singh has been applauded by the audience as well as the critics. Many of the actor’s contemporaries are also in praise of his latest work. Among them is the beautiful Wamiqa Gabbi. A Punjabi herself, the film evoked a lot of heartwarming moments and nostalgic anecdotes. Hailing from the area, Wamiqa has grown up listening to stories of gallantry about heroes from Punjab, men who lay down their lives to free India from the clutches of external domination. She took to her social media to congratulate the entire team.
Wamiqa goes on to say, ”The movie is a brilliant cinematic experience. The set, the location, the cast, the direction, everything fell in place effortlessly to create this masterpiece. It will always hold a special place in the history of Indian cinema but more so in my heart because Punjab and its history is deeply etched within me. I am a Punjabi and I carry the beauty of the land in all its capacity wherever I go. Sardar Udham has given us Punjabis and the rest of the country a chance to applaud the bravery of this hero once again. I am overwhelmed. Words fall short to describe what I feel. I congratulate my fellow Punjabi, Vicky Kaushal for his stellar performance.”
