Review- ‘Trial Period’: Why order a mixer grinder when you can order a brand new father?

The movie “Trial Period,” produced by Jio Studios and Chrome Pictures, tells the tale of a single mother who is forced to find a ‘dad on rent’ for her little kid for a month.

Genelia Deshmukh portrays the role of Ana, a single mother who tries to fulfill every wish of her little son Romi (Zidane Braz). She manages to become a ‘good mother’ by working hard and juggling her obligations, but she is unable to be friends with her son.

This entire trial period begins with Romi insisting on having a father since he thinks fathers are strong and powerful like superheroes. Ana, at her wits’ end, starts searching for a temporary father who can be rude, unpleasant, and arrogant to her child, so that this demand by her kid of having a father could be done away with.

This hunt for a father stops with the entry of a fresh new dad, Prajapati Dwivedi (Manav Kaul), who is portrayed as a country boy who comes to the city looking for a job as a history teacher but ends up working as a temporary father. But, as it turns out, Romi’s relationship with the new dad, PD, grows stronger. Not just Romi, but Ana as well, begins to be fond of Prajapati.

The narrative that Aleya Sen wrote and directed appears to be unreal rather than authentic. Comedy and emotion are both present in this tale. Ana and PD are like chalk and cheese. But, as they say, opposites attract, so having differences isn’t always a negative thing!

This is mostly a family-oriented film rather than a romantic one, and it teaches us two vital life lessons: how to be a good parent and the value of having a companion in life.
