“My hands were shaking…”- Karan Johar on Suffering a Panic Attack at NMACC launch

Filmmaker Karan Johar who is known for giving some of Bollywood’s biggest hits like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, recently launched the 8th season of his ‘Koffee With Karan’ series. In the first episode itself, he invited one of Bollywood’s most loved couple- Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.

In the middle of the conversation, he went on sharing some things about his mental health which were never known. He revealed that he experienced a panic attack during the launch of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC). He shared that he started sweating all of a sudden, had difficulty in breathing and didn’t know whether it was a cardiac arrest or something else.

He stated, “My hands were shaking. I did some breathing exercises and I was confused if it was a cardiac arrest or what. I got out of my long and elaborate jacket and I left in half an hour. I just went to my bed and I wept. I just cried and I didn’t know why I was crying…”The one person who noticed all of what was happening to Johar during the big launch was Varun Dhawan. He then took him to an empty room, and helped him put himself together.

He then added that even before the launch of his big movie “Rocky Aur Rani ki Prem Kahani”, he used to get anxious and stressed, because of which he still is on medication.
