Trailer of ‘Taali’, a web series based on the life of transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant is out now. 47-year old Sushmita Sen who’s playing the role of the activist, took to her Instagram, sharing the trailer, captioning – “Gauri aa gayi hai. Apne swabhimaan, sammaan, aur swatantrata ki kahaani lekar. #Taali – Bajayenge nahi, bajwayenge! #TaaliOnJioCinema, streaming free 15 Aug onwards.”

The trailer starts with Sushmita Sen stating- I’m Gauri. This story belongs to many people like me, because this ‘Gauri’, at some point in time was ‘Ganesh’. Then we see a teacher asking Shreegauri Sawant’s child character about what they’d want to become when they grow up, to which the child replies, ‘I want to become a mother.’ Then, of course the teacher shouts and the kids make fun of the kid, which indeed, is a problem in today’s society. The trailer takes turns showcasing the struggles of people who identify in a gender which is not their sex. We see the activist changing their sex and still facing issues with the mindset as well as the laws prevailing in the country. Then we see fearless Shreegauri Sawant (Sushmita Sen) reaching the Supreme Court with her supporters, fighting for the rights of the third gender.
Created By Arjun Baran and Kartik Nishandar, directed by Ravi Jadhav, The trailer of the series looks impressive and will stream on Jio Cinema starting from 15 August.
