Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to the emergency unit of Apollo Hospital in Kolkata on Saturday, February 10, following a sudden health issue. The renowned actor, with a career spanning since 1976, is celebrated for his contributions to the film industry, earning accolades such as the National Award. Some of his notable films include Disco Dancer, Jung, Prem Pratigyaa, Pyar Jhukta Nahin, and Mard. Further details about his health are currently awaited.

Recently, Mithun was also named as one of the recipients of the Padma Bhushan Awardees 2024. The actor also reacted to his win via his son Namashi’s social media. “Bohot khushi, bohot anand, sab kuch mila ke ek aisi feeling hai jo main bayaan nahi kar sakta. Bohot takleefo ke baad jab itna bada sammaan milta hai toh uski feeling hi kuch aur hoti hai,” Mithun said.

Meanwhile, Mithun Chakraborty faced the loss of his mother, Santirani Chakraborty, in July 2023. Reports suggested that she passed away in Mumbai after battling geriatric issues for an extended period. Prior to this, Mithun Chakraborty’s father, Basantokumar Chakraborty, had also passed away in April 2020 at the age of 95, succumbing to kidney failure.
