11th Jagaran Film Festival starts with All Pomp and Show

Jagaran 11th Film Festival, which promises to be an enthralling cinematic show, was organized at Siri Fort Auditorium in Delhi. Rajnigandha sponsored the event on August 3, 2023.

The event was slated to be officially launched by the revered Shri Anurag Thakur, the Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Youth Affairs, and Sports, Government of India, and graced by a number of well-known celebrities, including Haobam Paban Kumar, Rahul Rawail, Anupam Kher, and Kajol.

The show opens with Indian film director Rahul Rawail and Manipur-based filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar discussing the importance of budget in production. Komal Nahta, a film trade specialist, serves as the program’s host. The commercialization of everything in the film sector eventually makes it challenging to raise money to produce documentaries. They also discussed how OOT platforms are failing to support independent filmmakers and how pure art isn’t being valued as it ought to be.

When everyone’s favorite ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ Kajol aka Anjali entered the auditorium with her upbeat and effervescent energy, the audience’s enthusiasm reached a new level and the atmosphere became much more enjoyable. She expressed her remorse for choosing ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ over Mani Ratnam’s film and her devotion to her decision. She also talked about how she chooses her characters. As a reader, she holds the opinion that a good script should read like a good book—the kind of book you don’t want to put down and can consume in one sitting—because it’s crucial to connect with the character you are portraying. She went on to discuss her relationship with her mother and how faith brought her to the movie even though she had no interest in acting. As Kajol isn’t renowned for holding serious conversations, she avoided answering serious questions and instead focused on boosting the mood.

In the last segment of the program, one of the greatest actors in Bollywood cinema, Anupam Kher, took the stage and began teaching young performers the nine emotions of acting. He also portrayed the art of acting and talked about his own challenges along the way. The crowd appreciated when he said that he dislikes being referred to as a legend or a senior actor since he still has 30 to 40 years remaining in the film industry before he can retire. He also said that he prefers to be compared to younger stars like Tiger and Varun.
